The Philippines

For over ten years Swedesurvey worked very closely with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the Philippines in an institutional development project. The primary purpose of the project was to develop a cadastral and land information system to be used in the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Programme (CARP). The system was integrated with those of other agencies involved in implementing CARP and as a result of extensive on-the-job training for staff at DAR the system is operating at regional, provincial and municipal levels. Another project undertaken by Swedesurvey in the Philippines is “GIS Cookbook for LGUs – Guidelines on how to use GIS in comprehensive land use planning and land use monitoring at local government level”.
