The projects carried out by Swedesurvey in South Africa include the establishment of a network of permanent GPS reference stations, aerial photography for the Chief Directorate of Survey and Mapping and aerial photography and digital orthophoto mapping for Buffalo City Municipality. Swedesurvey also assisted Buffalo City Municipality in the development and implementation of a GIS strategy. A capacity building project which focused on human resource development in the implementation of an information system for the Working for Water Programme was carried out for the Department of Water Affairs. In addition, Swedesurvey has held courses on Cadastral and Land Information Systems in Southern Africa in South Africa.
